How to Know If Your App Is Featured on the App Store

An App Store feature can be one of your app’s most valuable marketing opportunities. Here’s how to know when it happens and make the most of it.

Getting featured can put your app in front of new users. But placements vary by country, can be short-lived and may arrive without notice. While there are several ways to detect them, not all offer the same coverage or convenience.

Four ways to check

1. Check the App Store manually

Open the App Store and check the Today, Games and Apps tabs. Open relevant Stories, Collections and lists too, since your app may appear inside without being shown on the main card. This is straightforward for one storefront. However, editorial content varies by country, so checking several storefronts quickly becomes impractical.

Fellow makes switching storefronts easy, while App Store Explorer is the most advanced way to research several countries at once.

2. Check App Store Connect notifications

App Store Connect provides email featuring alerts. Its app also sends push notifications for select Today-tab placements, such as App of the Day and Game of the Day. These alerts are free, but coverage is limited, so you may not get a notification for every feature.

See the App Store Connect vs Fellow comparison for details on coverage, history and screenshots.

3. Use analytics as a signal

An increase in App Store Browse traffic can be a sign that your app was featured, but it can have other causes. Check which countries drove the increase and look for any live placements before they disappear. More importantly, analytics may not alert you in time.

4. Monitor App Store features automatically

If you care about not missing these opportunities, use a dedicated monitoring tool like Fellow.

Fellow monitors all available App Store countries 24 hours a day and captures the relevant details and screenshots whenever it detects a feature. It then notifies you by email or push based on your preferences.

Your app was featured. Now what?

If you found the feature manually, save screenshots and any Story or Collection links while it is live. Share the placement with your audience and compare its timing with changes in impressions, page views and downloads.

Fellow captures the placement automatically, so you can focus on your app.

Oh, and don’t forget to celebrate. You’ve earned it.

Common questions

Will Apple always tell me when my app is featured?

Not necessarily. Apple documents email alerts, plus push notifications for “select App Store placements.” Fellow offers broader monitoring and feature history.

Can an App Store feature appear in only one country?

Yes. A placement may run in one or several storefronts, with different artwork, content or timing. Fellow captures the country variations it detects.

Not necessarily. Confirm it by finding a live placement or checking your monitoring history.
